Notes and Information

  • This location is at Sodwana Bay.

  • NOTE: Sodwana is in the iSimangaliso Marine Protected Area. No collection of live specimens is allowed in the MPA, even with a permit. Only beached and dead specimens may be collected here.

  • The area is pristine and the rock pools deliver amazing specimens, albeit for your viewing pleasure only.

  • The dunes are a treasure trove for lovely dead specimens.

  • The best place to find washed-up shells is the main beach away from the swimming area.
